Development approvals for Darwin

General

Sargeant Planning is working with Citiland on a proposal for a major new commercial homemaker’s centre in Darwin. This significant planning project is now another step closer with key development approvals secured by Director Boyd Sargeant at a recent meeting with the Development Consent Authority, an independent authority appointed by the Planning Minister.

This 30 hectare commercial development has evolved in close partnership with the traditional owners of the land, the Gwala Daraniki. Boyd Sargeant is an expert in the Northern Territory planning system, having been involved in the development industry there for the past 20 years.

With multiple stages, the development will see a range of big box retail and commercial uses, and a new fast food precinct.

The site is strategically located between the central and northern suburbs of Darwin and the Darwin Airport.

The proposal has been developed over several years and included extensive negotiations with the Northern Territory Government, particularly in regard to traffic and road access, and contamination.

Detailed management plans will be finalised to enable works to be commenced in the next ‘dry’ season.
