Subdivision for Gympie unveiled
General
Gympie’s growth continues to show no signs of slowing down, with plans for a new large-scale subdivision altering the shape of the region.
Located on Gympie’s Southside, the estate will be named Kingsview. The development application was recently lodged and is pending approval from Gympie Regional Council.
Sargeant Planning designed the master plan for the 125ha subdivision, with detailed ecological assessments informing the concept for the proposed 436-lot housing estate. The site is about one kilometre west of the Southside School and Cooloola Christian College.
Under the plans, the block would be subdivided into 436 lots which would be transformed into 498 new dwellings. These dwellings include 39 townhouses and 29 duplexes. Block sizes in the estate would range from 405 sqm to 1001 sqm.
The proposal includes green corridors about 300m wide. Two bus stops and two new parks have been marked in the plans. The speed limit at part of Glastonbury Rd near the development is proposed to be dropped from 80km/h to 60km/h further west for safety.
If approved the estate will be opened in several stages, with the first to include 22 lots on the southern side of Glastonbury Rd.
The land, bounded at the west by Eel Creek, has historically been used for agriculture which has left it largely cleared.
Sargeant Planning is managing the end-to-end development process.
